Streetlights have been our appointed lighting contractor since April 2010, and I believe we have been truly lucky in finding Ken and his friendly team. Farningham is a smaller parish owning 85 lights and so maintaining the lighting stock and paying for electricity supply is a significant part of the Council’s budget. Ken has attended Council meetings and given sound advice on the maintenance and upgrading of the Council’s lighting stock. The Council have embarked on an improvement and upgrading plan, and our lights are now turned off from 12 midnight to 5.30am. The electricity supplier has been changed, and it is likely the Council will save in excess of 60% on electricity costs annually. Communication with Streetlights is first class, and lights that are out and other problems have been dealt with swiftly. I would acknowledge that as Ken has worked in the industry for many years he is extremely knowledgeable, and gives helpful advice on the correction of UMS certificates and Charge Codes, something that the Councillors and I have had to learn about! I would have no hesitation in recommending Streetlights, and have done so to other Local Parish Councils.

I can’t speak highly enough about Ken and his team at Streetlights. When they took over the contract in April 2011 our ageing lighting equipment was found to be in a pretty poor condition, and needed upgrading to comply with current regulations. This has been done, and Ken has now helped us to negotiate a significant saving on our energy bills. Previously we were paying a lot of call out charges for reported faults, but these are now very few and far between due to the upgrade, and because they are picked up on the regular night time inspections and dealt with quickly as a matter of routine, saving the Council money. Ken and Rod, the engineer for this area, are always very helpful and provide good feedback. For the first time ever we feel as though our lights are being looked after properly by a company that cares for its customers and takes pride in the job.

Pembury Parish Council first contracted Streetlights to look after their lighting when EDF withdrew this service. Throughout these years we have been extremely satisfied with the service they have offered. Their pricing was very much lower than other larger contractors and the standard of workmanship has been excellent. Faulty street lights are repaired very quickly and advice freely given on any improvements that could be made. Streetlights also look after our Christmas Lights, checking them and erecting and dismantling them each year.

Not only was their financial offer attractive, the transfer of the former EDF Lighting engineer to Streetlights held out the prospect of continuity. This has proved to be the case, and the engineer's knowledge and experience of the Town Council's lighting columns have proved invaluable. Being able to work so closely with an organisation which can be trusted to give good advice and deliver on its commitments is both reassuring and refreshing, especially to a small organisation like the Town Council with its very limited resources.

Streetlights always respond rapidly to maintenance calls, which is particularly helpful when issues have been to the Parish Council’s attention by local residents.
